cottage without clothes

i like the view from different parts of our cottage. well, this is not exactly our view as i took this with my handphone stretching out from bedroom 3. but it's nice right? we spend our saturdays cleaning the windows and the floors. there are 2 ways to having a bright and shiny window. first way, according to onion, is to wipe with newspaper after to spray the window cleaner (which you can get a cheap cheap on from ntuc). second way, which i also recommend, is to wipe with a dry cloth after you spray the window. if u want it super clean, wipe with wet cloth 1st and then with a dry one. tried and tested myself! :)

• million dollar view

• living room , kitchen at the background

• living room (main door)

• corridor leading to washroom and then our MBR and bedroom 2
bedroom 3 is on the right of the corridor

• MBR door
toilet is on the right

• MBR window
we like lotsa daylight in our house.

• MBR window (the other angle)

• MBR air-con ledge window
this is abit out of the way.

it'll be nice if i can have an inspiration board in our study room. anyone knows where i can get a huge piece of pegboard, like the one in the pix?

new start, new ID

yesterday our new ID, tony tan, came to our cottage to do an on-site measurement. haha... but i'm not sure about his company name, it does sound abit tacky. i don't have the 3D drawings with me yet.

wardrobe colour & our new bed

over the weekend, we confirmed our wardrobe design, both the configuration inside and the colours outside. we're going for neutral colours, white and beige. black is actually kinda sleek and classy but it's just too dark for us. until now, our wardrobe is our most satisfied buy. eugene explains things and make sure we know what we're getting and what is possible to do. this is the kind of service u'll need when u engage a contractor or ID.

• our wardrobe colour
we were surprised to see how beautiful our parquet has turn into... thumbs up for whoever help to re-varnish the parquets. good job! well, that's just part of it, windows and living room tiles' defects are not rectify yet... :O dear BSC, if you're reading my blog, please get it done soon. by the way i saw our neighbour for the first time since we gotten our keys.

• our MBR nicely re-varnished parquet
we bought simmons glendale from robinsons (the sale without 7% GST). Our freebies include 1 king-size mattress protector and 2 simmons deep sleep pillow. but onion's got sensitive neck so we decided to upgrade both our deep sleep pillows to the simmons pocketed coil neck care pillows. it doesn't come cheap, the retail price for onion's neck care 3 is $177! i tried the neck care 1 ($160) too and it's so comfortable. haha... actually it feels like nothing when onion try it. im a weirdo who just needs a baby pillow, buying the neck 1 would be a waste... but onion insisted that we should get it since i find it comfortable. so we used our $200 robinsons voucher (which we got when we bought our 42"samsung tv), and minus off my pillow's price. yeah! i've got an expensive neck care pillow! haha... im really wasting money but i can use it for life lah. this is definitely an expensive buy. my mum was really shock that we spend so much just on the mattress itself. hehe... anybody's got good lobang for bed frame?

1) brick wall

2) mini curtain for kitchen window

3) smart lighting idea

most expensive buy: air-con

The air-con selection is the most hectic and headache one. Are we perfectionist or what? We just want the best of the best, at reasonable price. The war is between Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu. Both are reputable for their invertor air-cons, with 4 ticks for energy efficiency rating.

The winner is: Starmex multi split (invertor) system 3
-easy clean
-clean it yourself
conclusion: it's easy to clean! and it's not cheap.

kitchen stuffz

Yes, we bought our kitchen hob & hood, sink mixer, oven and the 'special' kitchen sink. All from Teka, at a sale of 20% storewide! Note: only from 6th-8th june. We're so happy! :) I really take my hat off to OB, he's so good at finding the best deal for our cottage. What a gem! I learnt that it takes a lot of effort to lookout for the best buys. Sometimes it can really tired people out. But I'm glad we settled our kitchen stuffs all in a day.

kopi opening

The kopi food court opens today!!

Onionboy's family came to visit our new place... they commented that our unit's view is fantastic. Of coz that's the reason why this block is our 1st choice. :) We're so lucky and blessed! They like their room, can see the mini park between aspella & atrina. After checking out the different rooms and kitchen, they went down to check out the ntuc and kopi food court while we continue tagging the defect areas. Our MBR's whole panel of window is full of soil, like those use to plant trees downstairs. I wonder where they put our window before it's up. Everywhere is so dusty, and window can't slide smoothly. Defect! They better service it till it glide smoothly. :p

Although we're quite satisfied with the workmanship in the living room, we found out there's quite a few scratches on the parquets. If only all those all not there, we would be able to start our reno. We wanna move in asap...

cleaning up

On 29th may, we bought mcgriddles (yes, again! coz miffy love that!) and reach our unit around 9.50am. Eugene (from closetrobe, www.closetrobe.com.sg) is supposed to drop by at 10am to measure our wardrobe. While waiting for him, we did some cleaning and sweeping of the rice & salt that was sprinkle on wednesday.

He made some measurements but still recommend that we build our wardrobe beside our bed, covering the air-con window. Luckily onionboy stop him in time. Anyway, it's confirm that we'll be doing a 7ft wardrobe near our MBR's door. Yuppie! Can't wait to see the final product. He say earliest to see the configuration is next week. Update again then.

We brought our cute sofa & mini table, and it just looks like we can move in anytime!! :D

27 may - a good day to open house

With the help from miffy's mum's friend, we got an auspicious date and time to open house. We bought 25 oranges, 1 pineapple, 10 candles, 5 packet of tea leaves, 5 packet of kim zhua and 1 packet of incense stick. All these are to pray for 'wu fang tu di gong'. And the pineapple is supposed to huat us...hehe... When onionboy open the main door, he row the pineappple towards the living room while all of us shout, huat ah! hahah... really funny!

Luckily aunty fangfang was there to help, she taught us what to do and assisted us in the praying part. Since it's also a good day to 'dong tu'-start reno, onionboy hit the 4 corners of the living room with a hammer. And yes, everything's settled. We were so glad... :)

keys collection day

We finally received our appointment letter to collect keys on 20th may!! How exciting!! We waited for 4 years and 2 months for this super-long BTO by HDB.

On 20th itself, we reached around 10am, an hour earlier from our appointment time. Head right to level 2 to pay for the fire insurance, then went down to buy mcgriddles meal... hungry! Hehe... We wanted to get a number and eat while waiting. To our surprise, our number blinked within 5 mins after we sat down and poor mcgriddles went back into the plastic bag.

We were greeted by this very friendly and happy Malay officer. She's really nice... We took a few pix of our black 'leather' key pouch when she went to verify our details. I can't find a word to describe how I feel... happy? worried? excited? I guess it's just indescribable! OB can't stop grinning at the keys... he's the master of the house mah. Hahah.. I'm the missy of the master. We saw how our house 'grew' from an empty land to a beautiful condo-style HDB. If you don't believe, drop by buangkok mrt anytime and see for yourself. Enjoy!
